A 41-year-old man from Malaysia, decided to move into and live in the forest as a means of escaping work-related pressures.
He ended up needing to be rescued by the Malaysian fire department after being lost and experiencing hunger for a period of six days.
According to a report from Bernama, the called for help at 11:44 pm on Friday, June 9th. The rescue operation took place within three hours following the call.
The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, allegedly made the decision to live in the forest due to the overwhelming pressures he faced in his work environment. On June 3rd, he embarked on a bus journey from Kuala Lumpur, heading towards Terminal Amanjaya.
Upon reaching the National Audit Department, he ventured into the forest via an electrical substation. However, after six days of navigating the wilderness, he found himself disoriented and plagued by hunger, prompting him to contact the emergency hotline using his mobile phone.
The Assistant Director of Perak Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, confirmed that the distress call was received at 11:44 pm on June 9th. Responding promptly, the fire department quickly located the victim by utilizing the provided location details.
Wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans, the man was reachable via phone but lacked internet connectivity, as mentioned by Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad. Upon entering the forest, the rescue team established contact with the victim, who expressed his ability to hear their approach.
At 2:46 am, the rescue team successfully located and retrieved the man. Subsequently, he was handed over to the police. A statement from the Ipoh District Police Chief, ACP Yahaya Hassan, revealed that the individual had consulted a psychiatrist at Kuala Lumpur Hospital in the previous year and had been prescribed medication for schizophrenia and hallucinations. However, he discontinued taking the medication in January.
Presently, the victim’s condition is stable, despite experiencing low blood pressure due to not having eaten for approximately six days.
