The footage has raised concerns about animal crossings on roads and the need for motorists to remain vigilant.

The Wild Boar Encounter on SLE

The incident took place on the Seletar Expressway (SLE) near the Upper Thomson exit at approximately 12:50 PM on Sunday, June 25.

A vigilant netizen recorded the occurrence and shared the footage on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page. The video begins with the sudden appearance of the wild boar in the middle of the road.

While the person recording the footage narrowly avoided colliding with the boar, unfortunate motorists behind them were not as fortunate.

The video captures one car crashing into the boar, causing an impact, but the resilient animal managed to keep moving. Unfortunately, it found itself in front of another vehicle, which ran over it.

The collision resulted in damage to the second car, with debris falling onto the road near the injured boar.

At present, it remains unclear whether the boar survived the collision. No updates have been provided regarding its condition or any subsequent actions taken to assist the injured animal.

However, such collisions on highways, where animals unexpectedly wander onto the road, often have tragic outcomes.

ACRES Urges Motorists to Exercise Vigilance

The Animal Concerns Research and Education Society (ACRES) emphasizes the need for increased vigilance among motorists, especially when driving along roads that intersect green spaces or forests.

The lack of connectivity in these areas often forces animals to risk crossing roads in their search for safer habitats. ACRES calls upon drivers to be extra cautious in these areas to minimize the chances of such incidents.

To help motorists stay alert and reduce the risk of animal-related accidents, ACRES has provided a list of streets and expressways where increased caution is advised:

  1. Old Upper Thomson Road
  2. Upper Thomson Road
  3. Mandai Road
  4. Lim Chu Kang Road
  5. Yishun Avenue 1
  6. Lornie Road
  7. Expressways (eg, SLE and BKE)
