GUAI LAN GRABFOOD RIDER THREW FOOD ON THE FLOOR BECAUSE CUSTOMER’S HOME “TOO FAR”

A customer recently took to Facebook to recount his unpleasant encounter with a delivery person from GrabFood.

According to the customer, the delivery person threw his McDonald’s order onto the cabinet and floor after expressing dissatisfaction with the distance of the customer’s house.

The incident was shared by a Facebook user named Asher Ashvin, who posted screenshots of his conversation with the delivery rider on the social media platform.

Asher had placed an order for McDonald’s through GrabFood from the NEX outlet on June 30, 2023, and was awaiting its arrival when he received a message from the rider. The delivery person claimed that the McDonald’s outlet at Potong Pasir was closer to the customer’s address.

In the message, the driver wrote, “from NEX go your address too far”

The driver proceeded to explain how he had attempted to contact Grab in order to change the location of Asher’s order. He further complained about the congestion at the NEX McDonald’s, citing the presence of numerous delivery riders and customers picking up their orders.

In another message to Asher, the driver wrote, “Good luck waiting.”

When Asher suggested canceling the order, the driver clarified that he had no issue with the pick-up address but rather with the customer’s address. He stated, “I’m just saying that the nearest McDonald’s to your address is Potong Pasir. Now I cannot cancel.”

The driver went on to explain that he was set on “auto accept” mode, and jobs were assigned randomly. It happened to be that Asher’s address was assigned to him.

When Asher’s food finally arrived, he witnessed the delivery person carelessly tossing the order onto the cabinets outside his house.

The paper bag containing the food had a significant hole, and an additional bag was lying on its side. Asher recorded a video showing the extent of the damage, with the drink spilled, fries scattered on the floor, and the bag torn and damaged.

Here is what he said

Very very very bad experience with THIS PARTICULAR Grab Food delivery rider. Felt like smacking him for the way he treated the food that was meant to be eaten. In the end, cannot eat at all. If you don’t like your job, please find another. You little shit.

P.S – Grab SG has reached out to me this morning to gather some details of the order, let’s see how they handle this.

Update:

Hello everyone,

So Grab got back to me and apologised, escalated the issue to their higher authority. Someone from that team reached out to me and updated – apparently the rider has had previous complaints, so they have banned him effectively from today.

Thank you everyone for your support!! Appreciate it!
