DRUNK MAN ARRESTED AFTER BEATING UP TAXI DRIVER IN PUNGGOL

In the early hours of Saturday morning (July 8), a disturbing incident unfolded near Block 256 Sumang Walk, Punggol, when a 26-year-old man was arrested after assaulting a taxi driver over a fare dispute. The altercation, which began as a squabble between the cabby and his passenger, quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, leaving the taxi driver injured and in need of medical attention. According to witnesses, the incident took place during the early hours of Saturday morning at a drop-off point near Block 256 Sumang Walk. The passenger, who was later discovered to be intoxicated, became embroiled in a heated argument with the taxi driver over the fare. As tensions mounted, the situation turned violent, with the passenger resorting to physical assault. Witnesses recount seeing the passenger throwing a punch at the taxi driver, causing him to fall to the ground. The severity of the taxi driver’s injuries was evident, as he appeared disoriented and in considerable pain.

Fortunately, the swift response of the authorities ensured that the assailant was apprehended promptly. The police arrived at the scene just in time to witness the assault and swiftly intervened. The officers worked to subdue the attacker, who resisted arrest and attempted to break free. Despite the assailant’s resistance, the police officers successfully apprehended him, using their training and expertise to bring the situation under control.

Medical personnel were also summoned to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured taxi driver. The severity of the driver’s injuries prompted his conveyance to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The assailant, on the other hand, was arrested for drunkenness in public places and is currently assisting the authorities with their investigations.
