ALL ENTERTAINMENT OUTLETS @ ORCHARD TOWERS CLOSED EXCEPT FOR 1, LAST ONE STANDING

As of today, all public entertainment (PE) operators in Orchard Towers, with the exception of one outlet, have ceased providing public entertainment in compliance with the Police’s directive. The remaining outlet has been granted an interim two-month extension of its PE license by the Public Entertainment Appeal Board (PEAB) pending a decision on its appeal.

The Police had previously informed business operators and property owners of PE outlets in Orchard Towers that no new PE licenses would be granted, and existing licenses would not be renewed beyond 31 May 2023. This policy decision was part of the Government’s ongoing efforts to manage the law-and-order situation and address disamenities in the area.

Singapore Police Force’s statement

ALL PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT OUTLETS AT ORCHARD TOWERS HAVE CEASED PROVIDING PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENT EXCEPT FOR ONE

As of 1 August 2023, all the public entertainment (PE) operators in Orchard Towers* have ceased providing public entertainment, except for one PE outlet which had filed a statutory appeal to the Public Entertainment Appeal Board (PEAB). Pending the decision on the appeal, the PEAB has granted the outlet an interim two-month extension of its PE licence until 30 September 2023 or until such time that the decision of the PEAB is made, whichever is earlier.

On 15 July 2022, the Police had informed business operators and property owners of PE outlets in Orchard Towers* that the Police would not grant new PE licences, or renew PE licences for existing outlets beyond 31 May 2023. This was a policy decision as part of the Government’s continued efforts to manage the law-and-order situation and disamenities in the area.

On 12 April 2023, after considering an appeal made by the PE operators and the Singapore Nightlife Business Association, the Police agreed to extend their PE licences until July 2023 to further facilitate their transition to alternative arrangements. The operators were also informed that there would be no further renewal of PE licenses thereafter.
