In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a woman in Singapore, 38-year-old Toh Xin Ling, passed away just three days after giving birth to her second child due to a congenital heart condition that had plagued her life. Her story is one of strength, love, and resilience in the face of adversity, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The Joyful Motherhood Journey
Toh Xin Ling, a vibrant 38-year-old woman, was diagnosed with a congenital heart condition that posed significant risks if she were to become pregnant.
Despite the potential dangers, Toh was determined to embrace motherhood and fulfill her dream of having children. Her joy knew no bounds when she became a mother for the second time.
The Tragic Turn
On August 3rd, one day after returning home from the hospital following the birth of her second daughter on 31 July, Toh Xin Ling collapsed at home.
Her husband, Mr. Ang, rushed to her side within minutes upon receiving the devastating news. Despite the swift response of paramedics, Toh never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead.
The cause of her untimely passing was determined to be “bicuspid aortic valve (BAV),” a condition that had been with her since she was diagnosed at the tender age of 19.
A Heart Condition’s Burden
This condition, characterized by having only two flaps instead of the usual three in the aortic valve, can hinder the proper flow of blood to the heart.
Despite her medical condition, Toh Xin Ling lived life to the fullest. She refused to let her heart disease define her or restrict her aspirations.
She fearlessly engaged in activities that brought her joy, even participating in dragon boating, a sport she loved dearly.
A Mother’s Love
Toh Xin Ling’s love for her children shone brightly through her actions. Her husband recalls how deeply she cared for their eldest daughter, always ensuring her happiness and well-being.
Tragically, her passing meant that her two-year-old daughter had to bid farewell to a mother she barely knew. Despite this heartbreaking circumstance, Mr. Ang is determined to ensure their children know of their mother’s kindness, generosity, and sincere friendships.
