ERP INCREASING TO $6 AT KPE EXPRESSWAY GANTRY, OTHER LOCATIONS UPPED BY $1

In a recent announcement, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) shared that Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) rates would experience an increment of $1 at three different expressway locations.

These adjustments will be effective during specific time periods starting from August 28. The decision to revise these rates comes after a thorough evaluation of traffic conditions conducted by the LTA in July, which highlighted heightened congestion on various stretches of expressways.

Evaluating Congestion and Implementing Changes

The findings from July’s assessment revealed an increase in congestion at specific points, prompting the need for strategic adjustments to the ERP rates.

Revised Rates at Specific Time Slots

The revised ERP rates will be applicable during distinct time slots at specific expressway locations:

1. Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) – Adam Road to Mount Pleasant Road

For motorists using the Pan-Island Expressway between Adam Road and Mount Pleasant Road, there will be a $1 charge during the time period from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. This measure aims to manage traffic flow during this peak morning period.

2. Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) – After the Defu Flyover

On the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway, specifically after the Defu Flyover, drivers can expect a revised rate of $6, up from the previous $5. This change will be in effect from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

3. Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) – Westbound before Eunos

Motorists traveling on the westbound Pan-Island Expressway before Eunos will witness an increase in ERP charges from $1 to $2. This updated rate will be applicable from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Additionally, a $1 ERP charge will also be in place from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

A Familiar Peak

Interestingly, the ERP rate for the KPE after the Defu Flyover, which is now set at $6, has reached this peak level before. Prior to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, this rate was last observed at the same figure.
