Here is the story

Hi all,

My dad has been working 12h shifts for 6days a week without being given OT, he has been with this company for over 10 years doing both manual labor and a bunch of other adhoc stuff.

According to MOM, he is entitled to OT pay (he earns about 2.2k/month) but this company has never given him or his colleagues their due OT.

This company employs mostly PRs and S Pass employees, so they (including my dad) are too afraid of losing their jobs to report this.

Now that my dad is quitting, we want to make sure he gets everything he is owed from this company.

Please let me know of what procedures or people I need to contact so we can help my dad.

Netizens comments

  • Huh wait, so for 10 years, he has never been paid OT and you guys are too afraid to speak up and get MOM to throw the book.
But now, that he is quitting and you want to demand back 10 years worth of OT pay? I think it’s going to be a long and difficult battle. You can reach out to MOM first and TADM but it’s going to be a long and tiring journey.
  • I worked in an interior design company, also mostly new PRs and S pass holders, salary is shit. Worked 70 hours a week, no OT pay whatsoever.
I quit after a few months and lodged a report with MOM and TAFEP. They said nothing they could do except keep the company on a watchlist as I didn’t have any timesheets or black white documents to support my claims.
So, before your dad leaves the company, get him to get some sort of timesheet, as well as any documents that states what his working hours and duties should be, it will make it alot easier for the authorities to help.
