The Fateful Day

On that fateful day in September, as the clock struck 1 pm, Liu was in the midst of frying his signature fried chicken cutlet and crispy fries. Suddenly, he collapsed, falling headlong into a searing wok filled with scalding hot oil. A bystander, who was helping out at Liu’s stall, quickly alerted other hawkers for assistance. Together, they managed to pull Liu from the perilous situation.

A Community’s Effort

Liu was still alive and breathing when the ambulance rushed him to the hospital. However, the extent of his injuries was severe, with second-degree burns covering his face, chest, and back, along with smoke inhalation.
