I dated my best friends ex-gf and now we have a baby.
I’ve vented to everyone in my life and I still feel terrible about this so I’m posting it here.
Back in June of 21, I hung out with my best friend and his gf everyday. We all enjoyed each others company. When he’d go to bed, I’d stick around and hangout with his girl while we drank beers.
No, we never did anything romantic. We just talked. We truly enjoyed speaking to one another and it was always innocent.
Two months after they broke up, she texts me “I Miss your presence” and I knew what that meant/would lead to.
My dumb self decided to go on with it. We went to a bar, went camping, traveled, and basically spent almost everyday together.
I truly thought she was the one which is why I basically dropped my best friend for her. We had so much in common and got along really well.
After a week, I told my friend to his face. As you’d guess, he was pissed. He knew something was off since I wasn’t hanging out with him anymore, but had no idea it was this.
I felt absolutely terrible. I still do. Hindsight is truly 20/20 because i dread that decision to this day. To make matters worse, I was partially raised by his father and mother so I didn’t just lose him – I lost my second family.
Now, me and her have a child and are broken up due to our differences (ironic). We are managing fine, but I can’t get this dark, soul-sucking feeling out of me.
I feel like a bad person that doesn’t deserve anything. Like the villain in someone else’s story. I need to fix this. I don’t know what to do which is why I’m posting this here today.
Does anyone know how I can get over this?
