However, one graduate from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) tried to make his day unforgettable, and boy did he achieve that – by emphatically failing a backflip on stage after receiving his certificate, and landing face-first onto the ground.
Kissed the floor
Our story centers on one particular graduate who decided to take the unconventional route. As he received his Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physiotherapy from the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), he seized the opportunity to make a memorable exit.
With a brief glance at the audience, he hesitated and then crouched down. What happened next was a shock to everyone.
The graduate took a bold leap backward in an attempt to perform a celebratory backflip. However, he failed to stick the landing, and instead of landing on his feet, he landed flat on his face, much to the horrified gasps of the audience below, as well as a few muffled laughter. To add to the comedy, his mortarboard also ended up on the floor.
Well, at least he now has a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy that he can apply on himself.
Paiseh but plays it cool
Seemingly embarrassed beyond measure, the graduate then gets back up after “kissing” the floor and goes to pick up his items, as the presiding officer hands him his mortarboard that had flown off his head when he landed on his face. He then hastily made his way off the stage.
Additionally, the livestream of the event had 199 viewers who were equally entertained by the graduate’s unexpected acrobatics.
