60 Y.O UNCLE ROBS ELDERLY WOMAN @ AMK, SNATCHED HER GOLD NECKLACE & $570 CASH, ARRESTED

A 60-year-old man has been apprehended by the Singapore Police for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft, in an incident that unfolded on October 13, 2023. The arrest was made within a remarkable three-hour window from the time of the crime being reported.

Robbed an elderly woman

The incident occurred around 3:00 pm on October 13th, along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, where an elderly female victim fell prey to a snatch theft, allegedly carried out by an unknown assailant who made off with her gold necklace.

Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division and the Police Operations Command Centre sprang into action. They promptly initiated ground inquiries and tapped into the assistance of Police cameras to establish the identity of the suspect.

Within the same day, at approximately 5:00 pm, officers from the Central Police Division identified and apprehended the suspect in the vicinity of Serangoon Road.

The swift action led to the recovery of the stolen necklace and the seizure of cash amounting to $570, which were presented as crucial case exhibits.

The arrested individual is set to face legal consequences for his alleged involvement in the snatch theft. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 14, 2023.

The charge against him is based on Section 356 of the Penal Code 1871, which pertains to snatch theft. If found guilty, the suspect could face an imprisonment term ranging from one to seven years, in addition to caning as a potential punishment.

MAN ARRESTED FOR SNATCH THEFT WITHIN THREE HOURS

The Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft. 

On 13 October 2023 at about 3pm, the Police were alerted to a case of snatch theft along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1, where an elderly female victim’s gold necklace was allegedly snatched away by an unknown man.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division and the Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the man. On the same day, at about 5pm, officers from Central Police Division spotted the man at the vicinity of Serangoon Road and arrested him. The stolen necklace and cash amounting to $570 were recovered and seized as case exhibits.

The man will be charged in court on 14 October 2023 with the offence of snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.

The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
