MRT FAILS ARE LIKE A DAILY AGENDA. TODAY YEW TEE TO JURONG DELAYED

In news that surprised no one, commuters on the North South line experienced delays again this morning during rush hour. At 7.32am, SMRT tweeted that commuters should add 15 minutes’ additional train travel time from Yew Tee to Jurong East. This was due to a track fault “not linked to the new signalling project”, the tweet said.

However, most passengers said that the waiting time was far longer than what SMRT tweeted, with one commuter even saying that she was stuck on a MRT train at Choa Chu Kang station for 40 minutes. Another commuter said he took 40 minutes to travel from Yew Tee to Jurong East, which is just four stations apart.

At 8.13am, SMRT revised the estimated additional travel time from Yew Tee to Jurong East to 10 minutes, and at 8.53am, it said that the train service was running normally again.
