But did you know that besides offering budget-friendly merchandise, they also have a lesser-known venture that’s been turning heads?

They are also offering room rentals, under “ValuResidences”.

A netizen shared a poster of a promotional poster of an “All-in-1 Rooms for Rent” offering by ValuResidences outside a Value Dollar outlet, advertising free WiFi, Air Con, Cookers, Fridges, Personal Bathroom, Workstations and a Washing Machine to go along with the room.

The cheapest listing on their website is a room in Hougang Avenue 1 that is listed for $1,300 per month, but it’s reeeaaally small.

According to their website, they said:

“Singapore is one of the most expensive cities in the world. There’s no getting around that.

However, it doesn’t mean you can’t have a home.

We specialize in creating a home within a room, making sure that you will have your own personal space, a sanctuary to relax and recharge from the vagaries of life.

Our rooms are tastefully renovated and where possible, ensure that you have your own personal appliances and amenities so that you can do things your way.”

And they also offer regular home maintenance of aircon systems and pest control every three months, and cleaning of toilets, floors and windows every two weeks.

Netizens’ comments

  1. Went to their website, one of the places they’ve got is a 3 room flat in Marsiling built in 1984, it comes unfurnished, with utilities charged as metered and with absolutely no maintenance included. And all of that can be yours for the low low price of $3,800 a month.
  2. Not value at all. A master bedroom at marsiling rise costs $2350/month
  3. Value dollar shop also sell all the hard liquor, wine and beer at compass one outlet. I am aware they sell/ rent property at toa payoh outlet since 2015. Its placed at payment cashier. Some stickers
  4. If you ever wanted a signal there is a property bubble, this is the one ! When your grocery stores start renting out apartments
  5. Checked it out, they’re subdivided old HDBs where each room goes for above market rate (2k for ground floor room in the ulu part of Yishun lol) and with an additional $150 in utilities charges per month. Turning on the aircon 24/7 won’t even hit that amount. Owners stand to make an additional 50-100% on renting out their HDB this way.
