The circumstances surrounding the accident were perplexing, and an investigation was immediately initiated to uncover the truth.

A Dashcam’s Perspective

One key piece of evidence that played a crucial role in understanding the sequence of events was the dashcam recording from the lorry involved in the accident.

According to Supt Hoo Chang Hook, the recording indicated that the lorry driver had come to a complete stop at a T-junction.

The cautious behavior of the lorry driver was evident as they waited for the traffic light to turn green. Only when the light signaled safety did the lorry driver proceed.

The Fateful Collision

Unfortunately, despite the lorry driver’s adherence to traffic rules and signals, the van driver, approaching from the right, collided with the lorry.

This collision resulted in the tragic loss of the young van driver’s life, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

Initial Findings and Drug Testing

The local authorities conducted a urine test on the lorry driver to rule out any potential substance abuse as a contributing factor to the accident.

The test results came back negative, further perplexing investigators as to the cause of the accident.

Weather and road conditions were reported to be favorable at the time of the incident, eliminating these as potential factors.

Vehicle Inspection and Blood Sample Analysis

To gain a comprehensive understanding of the accident, both the van and the lorry were scheduled to undergo inspection at Puspakom.

This step was deemed crucial in order to ascertain any mechanical failures or issues that might have played a role in the accident.

In the pursuit of further clarity, the blood sample of the deceased, S. Suganeshwaran, was also set to undergo analysis by the Chemistry Department to determine whether any toxicological factors contributed to the accident.

Legal Implications

The case is currently under investigation, and it falls under the jurisdiction of Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
