Need legal advise-
My fiance got a really bad food poisoning from this known fast food chain. He was throwing up like crazy and I am having this anxiety/panic attack. As a result, I called 995 coz I literally dk what to do anymore. Fortunately, lady on the line insisted to send ambo so the paramedics could check on him. He was throwing up huge amount of undigested food a lot of times (4x), nauseous and having severe stomach cramps.
The paramedics monitored him for awhile and have urged him to see doctor. They said, they could bring him to A&E but it could take awhile due to the long q. Plus, they would be charging extra amount if they are going to drop us off at the hospital(A&E). The kind hearted, and concerned SCDF guys (thank you guys so much. I hope u guys know how much you are valued in this community.) gave us an advise to just take a cab and drive to the nearest 24 hr clinic so my fiance would get the medicine he needs.
We sure did, and the paramedics accompanied us throughout/while waiting for our cab.
(Thank you, Karen Tan. I will remember your name forever.)
Fast forward, he got a jab to ease the nausea, had electrolytes, and took the stomach cramp meds. Now, he is fast asleep as he really was exhausted from the events.
But then, now, I just finished cleaning up the toilet. And I still can’t sleep because I am afraid that his situation will get worse if I doze off.
Both of us had our schedules of tomorrow work disturbed as we had to inform our employers at 1am in the morning. (My side was total wreck as a lot of my colleagues don’t like it when you go for urgent leave, and would not have informed atleast evening before.)
Next is, I really want to get back to that fast food chain. Due to their unhygienic preparation and low standard practices, someone’s life was placed at risk. What if instead of my fiance (able, strong immune system)- an elderly, a child or a pregnant woman consumed the food?
What kind of risk are we going to anticipate from here?
To all of you, I seek your knowledge on how to lodge a formal complaint against the fast food chain to prevent this scenario of happening to anyone.
Helpful, concerned comments are highly appreciated. But if you’re just going to say nasty things, I beg u. Not now. It was a rough night already.
Here are what netizens think:
- IMPORTANT: First thing first, report this matter to Singapore Food Agency SFA and NEA. Then followed by small claim or lawyer. Let the gov handle it. They will look for evidence. You yourself Do NOT approach the fast food chain first because they will destroy all evidence before the gov SFA raid their kitchen. Don’t give bad review online first until the gov conclude everything.
- Yours is consider civil case. Pertaining civil case, just make sure you have alot of money to tank the whole process. Engaging lawyer is a rich man’s game that commoners cannot afford. 1. If company denies responsibility and willing to fight you then you need to tank. You got money? 2. Sometimes lawyer also wana earn money and sometimes opposition also want to let you bleed to see how long can you tank. 3. And what do you want to achieve from this? Monetary compensation? Loss of income for how many days? People who are loaded with money can spend $100k on lawyer fees just to get the other party to pay $300. IT IS about having alot of money to be petty. My advice is to google search and ask lawyers advice. They usually give free basic consult to see what type of problems you have and if they willing to take up your case. Good luck.
