This daring escapade, was fraught with car theft, drug-induced accidents, and a dramatic encounter with law enforcement, as he embarked on a crime spree.

Muhammad faced the consequences of his actions, being convicted on 13 charges, including dangerous driving, failure to comply with immigration directions, and criminal intimidation, and he was sentenced on December 12 to 8 years, 1 month and 19 weeks imprisonment, as well as 6 strokes of the cane and a fine of $1,000.

An additional 10 charges were also considered during his sentencing.

The Great Escape

Muhammad’s disappearance on Aug 13, 2022, marked the beginning of an alarming saga. Under the work release scheme, he was permitted to leave the SPCSC for employment purposes but failed to return that fateful evening, eluding both authorities and his reintegration officer.

As a fugitive, Muhammad resorted to unconventional living arrangements, sleeping in public places such as staircases. The blend of perplexity and burstiness in his actions kept authorities on their toes, trying to predict his next move while grappling with the unpredictability of his fugitive lifestyle.

During his months on the run, Muhammad’s actions escalated from evading authorities to engaging in a series of criminal offenses. The theft of a car, driving without a license, and a drug-induced crash resulting in injuries to innocent bystanders painted a grim picture of his disregard for the law.

The Drug-Fueled Crash

Muhammad’s drug-induced crash on Tuas South Avenue 3 left three individuals injured, highlighting the dangers of combining substance use with driving. His use of Dormicum, a medication inducing sleepiness, showcased the potential hazards associated with drug consumption, especially in situations requiring alertness and responsibility.

Muhammad’s daring attempt to flee Woodlands Checkpoint on Nov 13, 2022, further intensified the gravity of his actions. Driving against traffic and narrowly avoiding a collision with a bus, he demonstrated a blatant disregard for the safety of others and the consequences of his recklessness.

The climax of Muhammad’s crime spree involved a violent encounter with a car salesman. After damaging two vehicles, he threatened the salesman with a knife, leaving a trail of fear and destruction in his wake. This incident underscores the importance of addressing the underlying issues that led to such violent outbursts.
