POLICE CAR CRASHED INTO RAILING & END UP INSIDE LONGKANG @ WHAMPOA, 2 SENT TO HOSPITAL

On Wednesday, December 20, a peculiar incident unfolded at Whampoa Makan Place that caught the attention of residents. An unmarked police car was involved in an accident, resulting in two individuals being sent to the hospital.

Accident Details

According to The Straits Times, the accident occurred at about 5 pm at 90 Whampoa Drive, the location of Whampoa Makan Place. Witnesses reported that the unmarked police car, devoid of the usual police markings, was partially inside a drain. 

The vehicle had apparently collided with the railing beside a pedestrian walkway before ending up in the drain, as a banner featuring the photos of the 4 smiling Jalan Besar GRC MPs wishing residents a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year overlooked the wreckage.

Injuries and Response

As a result of the accident, two female car passengers, aged 21 and 66, were transported to the hospital. The 63-year-old car driver, identified as a police officer, is currently cooperating with ongoing investigations.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed the incident, stating that the accident involved the unmarked police car and a motorcycle. The SPF assured that investigations are underway to determine the circumstances leading to the accident.

Photos posted by ROADS.sg on Facebook depicted the unmarked police car partially submerged in the drain. The incident occurred right in front of a banner displaying the four Jalan Besar GRC MPs wishing residents a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
