Ng Hoe Ghee, a former minimart owner who garnered attention back in 2015 for losing a finger to frostbite, has found himself back in the news, this time facing charges related to the alleged misappropriation of belongings belonging to a deceased individual, according to The Straits Times.

Charged on December 27, 51-year-old Ng Hoe Ghee faces accusations of dishonestly misappropriating items, including a haversack, laptop, phones, and personal documents, that belonged to the deceased, Mr. Sean Kee. The incident reportedly occurred on August 12 at Block 105 Henderson Crescent.

The Charges

Ng Hoe Ghee is charged with two counts of dishonest misappropriation concerning the belongings of Mr. Sean Kee and one count of unauthorized access to computer material.

Court documents reveal that Ng is accused of dishonestly misappropriating a phone, a flash memory card, and two amulets belonging to a woman in 2017. He is also alleged to have misappropriated another man’s phone in April 2023 and accessed the victim’s Facebook account without consent in May 2023.

Legal Proceedings

Ng, who previously suffered from frostbite, has indicated his intention to plead guilty to the charges, suggesting a potentially swift resolution to the case.

If convicted of dishonest misappropriation of property belonging to a deceased person, Ng Hoe Ghee may face a maximum sentence of up to three years in jail, along with possible fines.
