In a recent incident on Kranji Road, a public bus and a lorry collided, leaving one passenger injured and the aftermath captured on TikTok. This article delves into the details of the accident, the experience of the passengers, and the response from SMRT.
The Collision and Social Media Circulation
Last Friday (19 Jan), a public bus and a lorry were involved in a collision on Kranji Road. The incident occurred at approximately 4.15 pm, causing significant damage to the bus and injuring one passenger.
A TikTok video surfaced on Saturday (20 Jan), revealing the aftermath of the collision. The video, taken from the back of the public bus involved, showcased shattered windows and large pieces of glass on seats and the floor.
Passenger Ordeal and TikTok Post
The passenger who posted the TikTok video described it as a “bad day” for him. Travelling on bus 925 between Woodlands and Choa Chu Kang interchanges, he witnessed the collision. The impact caused screams among the six or seven passengers on board.
The TikTok clip went viral online, featuring the chaos inside the bus with shattered windows and scattered glass. The large vehicle involved in the collision was visible outside, emphasizing the severity of the incident.
While the TikTok user claimed to be alright, he admitted to coming into contact with some of the glass. Unfortunately, an elderly man sitting in the corner of the bus, close to the point of impact, was injured by glass shards.
The passenger stated that the police were called, but he had already switched to another bus and left the scene. The injured elderly man, however, was presumably attended to by the authorities.

SMRT’s Response
Mr. Vincent Gay, Deputy Managing Director of SMRT Buses, provided details of the incident. Bus service 925 was at a traffic light on Kranji Road junction when a lorry skidded and collided with the rear of the bus around 4 pm on 19 Jan.
The collision caused a bus window panel to shatter, resulting in injuries to a male commuter’s right palm. The bus captain offered medical assistance, but the passenger declined.
Gay assured that the remaining commuters were safely transferred onto another bus to continue their journeys, emphasizing SMRT’s commitment to passenger safety.
