A 38-year-old father in Singapore, who cannot be caned due to a court order protecting the victim’s identity, repeatedly tried to rape his 4-year-old daughter, according to Channel NewsAsia.
On 29 January, he was sentenced to an imprisonment term of 13 years and 16 strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to two counts of attempted statutory rape back in November 2022.
The court also took into consideration 3 other charges of him molesting his now-15-year-old daughter when she was between 4 and 5 years old, as well as taking photos of her private parts when she was 11 years old.
What happened?
CNA reported that back in 2013, he had tried to rape his daughter when she was still in kindergarten, doing so until she was in early primary school.
The victim didn’t know that anything was wrong until she reached primary 5 and attended an educational talk about sx in school, shocking her as she feared that her friends would steer away from her and her mother would have to take responsibility for the family if her father was jailed.
Notably, her father also instructed her not to tell anyone what he did.
The case only saw the light of day in January 2022 when one day, her teacher noticed that she had cuts on her forearm. The girl later revealed during a psychiatric session that she blamed herself for her father’s actions, as well as thinking that she was to blame for her siblings losing their father, resulting in her feeling overwhelmed and alone.
As such, she felt like she deserved pain and cut herself as a result.
Father Watched Adult Videos Every Day
The accused was found to have a pedophilic disorder but was otherwise sane and had a sound mind. He watched adult videos almost every day after coming to Singapore back in 2001.
His wife was also in the midst of divorce proceedings with him when he put in an early plea of guilt back in November 2022.
