Navigating the bustling streets of Ang Mo Kio took a troubling turn on January 15, 2024, as a 75-year-old man riding a Personal Mobility Aid (PMA) allegedly collided with a 92-year-old man at the Ang Mo Kio bus interchange, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The Collision
The alleged victim, surnamed Zheng, narrates a distressing encounter where he fell to the ground after the PMA rider’s collision, causing him to hit the right side of his face. The impact resulted in bleeding, a bruised eye socket, and the need for X-ray and brain examinations, ultimately leading to three stitches on his right eyebrow.
According to Zheng, the PMA rider left the scene without offering an apology and even claimed that Zheng had initiated the contact. A concerned passer-by, witnessing the incident, promptly lodged a police report. However, Zheng’s apprehension grew as the rider lacked a license plate, making police intervention potentially challenging.
Quest for Justice
In an attempt to identify the PMA rider, Zheng made multiple trips back to the bus interchange since January 16. However, concerns about potential conflicts led him to delay lodging a police report until January 30, influenced by the persuasion of family and friends.
Despite concerns about encountering the rider again, Zheng remains hopeful about justice being served since the rider has been identified. Contacted by Shin Min on January 30, Zheng expressed his intention to leave the matter to the police.
Police Confirmation
Responding to inquiries from Shin Min, the Singapore Police Force confirmed the receipt of the police report, initiating thorough investigations into the incident. This acknowledgment highlights the authorities’ commitment to ensuring a fair resolution.
