AUNTIE TAPS HER EZLINK CARD MULTIPLE STOPS BEFORE HER ACTUAL STOP TO SAVE MONEY

The first time I noticed this I thought I was crazy, but the following has become an obsession that I just can’t not notice. And over time I’ve started to realize what the aunty in the story below is doing and I find it really odd and so now I want other peoples opinions on whether she’s a bit crazy, or I’m the judgmental a-hole…

So anyway, occasionally I find myself on the same peak-hour bus as an aunty who is always quite pushy to get onto the bus first. She’ll shove through an awaiting crowd to be at the curb and first to board. Fine. I’m in no rush. Once aboard, she always makes a beeline to sit next to the rear doors (where people disembark) and will, if possible, sit immediately adjacent the doors.

Now.. as luck would have it I always disembark before this lady. So I’ll hop up and make my way to the door prior to reaching my stop, waiting near the door (now standing next to aunty) and ready to tap-off once I’m able to.

The weird thing is… This aunty will ALWAYS lean over from her seat, still sitting, and tap-off the moment the sensor allows it.. But she isnt getting off. She remains seated. Those who are waiting disembark (myself included). The doors shut. And she continues on her bus journey to wherever she’s off to. But she tapped off.

What is going on?!

I can only assume my bus stop must be some sort of zone or slightly cheaper than hers, but surely we’re talking about a couple extra cents. It’s seems to me like such strange and brazen behavior in an effort to penny pinch.

When I say “aunty” this lady is maybe mid/late 40s. Not a retiree or someone you might otherwise ignore. She’s always dressed nice enough.

I just find this so dang strange!

I know it isnt hurting me, so I should ignore her and mind my own business- but its become something I cannot unsee!
