ROASTING SINGAPORE: MARCH TEMPERATURES MAY GO BEYOND 35 DEGREES

The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) has issued a heat advisory for the second half of March, with daily maximum temperatures anticipated to reach 34 to 35 degrees Celsius on most days. On a few days with reduced cloud cover, particularly in the coming week, the temperature may even surpass this range.

While warm and dry weather conditions are expected in the first few days of the coming week, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy thundery showers in the afternoons, especially in the last week of March.

Despite the anticipated hot and dry spell, most parts of Singapore recorded above-average rainfall in the first half of March. Changi, in particular, experienced rainfall that was 135% above average. The highest daily total rainfall recorded for the first half of March was 98.6mm in Buona Vista on March 4.

However, the last few days of the first half of March were dry and warm, with daily maximum temperatures of above 34 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature of 36 degrees Celsius was recorded on Sentosa on March 13.

Given these weather predictions, it is crucial to take necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated during this period. Here are some tips to help you beat the heat:
