I have a distant relative who won.
She invested in some kopitiam and lost big on it because not many people visited that location, she also gambled a lot at casino and lost more on that.
Bought and sold flashy cars. Also bought a house and had a HK xiao bai lian around at some point, who accompanied her in eating good food and also travelling around on luxury cruises and enjoying life basically (this was many years before COVID), but after she lost all her money from the kopitiam venture + gambling habit + travelling and went into debt, the HK guy said goodbye and flew back to his home country.
She also had a son (not blood-related to me since it’s from my cousin’s ex-husband’s side of family, but can be considered a friend I knew in childhood) and he’s a very filial boy even though his mum is not very good, she made him sign on in NS because the pay was good, in order to help her repay her debts, instead of pursuing his own passion and choice of career.
The last that I heard of her, was a few years ago when she got herself drunk at a bar, and then tried to hang herself at a hotel room and caused a huge scene because some guy just dumped her again.
Money is useless and completely wasted when it lands in the hands of the wrong people.
