I have this relative of mine who got into some trouble with the law before because he used to be doing drugs.
He has stayed cleaned for a period of time but has recently found a new vice to indulge in which is gambling.
He would frequent the Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Casinos and sometimes even go up to Genting to gamble depending on where he felt was ‘luckier’ for him.
One day I met him at a family gathering and one of my other relative (relative B) jokingly asked him why he was going to the casinos so often.
This gambling addict relative of mine would go on to say that going to casino to gamble is like a ‘drug addiction’, you know that it is not good for you but it is hard to break the habit.
Whenever he wins a lot of money, he will feel the ‘high’ and whenever he is not at the casinos, he would feel the ‘kick’ to go to the casino again to play a feel hands.
If there was anything that happened on the day where he was supposed to go to the casino, he would feel very frustrated because he is unable to ‘feed’ his addiction.
Hearing this, relative B asked him how much did he profited or loss at the casino ever since he started going and my gambling addict relative would say that he had lost almost $50,000 in the span of a year.
Relative B then decided to ‘take a dig’ at my gambling addict relative saying that at this rate it is better that he goes back to consume drugs at least it is not as pain as losing so much money and if he goes back to ‘sit’ in prison he can save more money.
