ARMED ROBBERY AT TAMPINES, AUSSIE MAN CHARGED

A 39-year-old Australian man, Jose Manuel Pacheco, has been charged in Singapore for allegedly robbing a Tampines moneylender of S$6,095 with a knife. The incident occurred on June 3, 2024, at around 1:42 pm at Block 503 Tampines.

According to the charge sheets, Pacheco allegedly put a 32-year-old female in fear of bodily hurt during the robbery. He was arrested within half an hour of the crime, thanks to the victim’s quick thinking and detailed description of the suspect.

The victim, who remained calm during the robbery, noted Pacheco’s outfit, including a mask and cap, and handed over the cash as demanded. She then provided the police with a detailed description of the suspect, which led to his swift arrest.

The police recovered the stolen cash in full, along with the knife used during the robbery. Pacheco has been offered bail of S$20,000.

The offence of armed robbery committed during the day carries a jail term of between two to 10 years and at least 12
