When I think of my friend, I can’t help but feel both admiration and envy. He is 35 years old and he has never worked a single day in his life.
His life is a stark contrast to my own, where I have to wake up every morning and clock in at the office. How did he manage this?
It all started when his grandfather left him two shophouses. It was an unexpected inheritance that he wasn’t expecting.
It was a huge shock for him, but it was also a huge blessing. He was able to rent out the shophouses and collect a steady stream of income from the tenants. This enabled him to live a life of comfort and ease.
With the rental income from these properties, he’s been able to live a life of leisure. He spends his days going on frequent trips to clubs, the casinos, fine dining and shopping.
He even has two to three expensive cars where he changes very frequently.
I’ve always been a bit jealous of my friend’s lifestyle. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be able to wake up every morning and not have to worry about money?
He’s able to live without any kind of financial stress or worry.
However, with money coming in so easily for him, he has become a little bit too pampered, domineering and demanding.
Whenever things does not go his way, he would throw up a big tantrum and force everyone to let him have his way.
It was hard for a lot of us who hanged out with him, as we all had our own jobs and commitments but it felt like we had an extra ‘baby’ to take care of.
Eventually, a lot of us could not keep up with him and chose to leave the clique.
He is now still living the same lifestyle, albeit with a different group of friends as he has found people of his ‘level’ who can accept his ways.
