Undercover Investigation Uncovers Illegal Prostitution Racket Near Kranji MRT Station
A shocking discovery was made by a Shin Min Daily News reporter who went undercover to investigate reports of illegal prostitution near Kranji MRT station. The investigation revealed that two individuals, claiming to be “men dressed in women’s clothing,” were soliciting customers in a secluded area with undergrowth near the walkway.
The reporter’s findings were corroborated by an eyewitness, surnamed Zhang, who claimed to have seen the individuals waving and winking at him as he walked past them. Zhang assumed that they were offering illicit services in the area.
The reporter’s investigation took him to the grassy clearing, where he saw a migrant worker waiting around 9 pm. Later, he spotted several migrant workers surrounding the two individuals, who were dressed in low-cut tops. One of the individuals was seen entering the undergrowth with a migrant worker, while the other claimed to be offering sexual services for S$20, with condoms provided for free.
The reporter’s probe further revealed that the individuals were operating a makeshift brothel in the undergrowth area, where customers would enter to receive their services. The area was littered with trash, including used condoms, tissue paper, and plastic bottles.
Residents living nearby were shocked and disbelief upon learning about the illegal activities taking place in their neighborhood. It is an offence to commit obscene acts in public spaces in Singapore, and those convicted could face up to three months in jail, a fine, or both.
The incident raises concerns about the safety and well-being of the community, particularly in areas with high foot traffic like MRT stations. It also highlights the need for increased vigilance and cooperation between authorities and residents to combat illegal activities and maintain public order.
The investigation serves as a reminder that illegal prostitution is a serious issue that requires attention and action from the authorities. It is essential to take a zero-tolerance approach to such activities, which can have far-reaching consequences for public health, safety, and morality.
