Bicycle Man Goes Viral After Blocking Traffic At Seng Kang East, Causing Massive Jam

Cyclist Blocks Car Driver at Sengkang Zebra Crossing, Causes Traffic Jam

A cyclist in Singapore has been accused of causing a traffic jam at a zebra crossing in Sengkang after he dismounted from his bicycle and blocked a car driver’s way. The incident, which occurred on October 10, was captured on dashcam footage and posted on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page.

According to the footage, the cyclist, a man wearing a grey shirt and jeans, was riding his bicycle across a zebra crossing when he stopped and began arguing with the car driver. The driver, who was reportedly a private hire vehicle driver, was unable to move forward as the cyclist had positioned his bicycle in a way that blocked the car’s path.

The dispute allegedly continued for some time, with the cyclist taking out his phone to take photos of the car and make a call. The footage also shows a line of vehicles behind the car, which were held up as the sky got darker.

The police were eventually called to attend to the situation, and it is unclear what happened next. However, the incident has sparked a heated debate online, with many commenters berating the driver and siding with the cyclist.

One commenter even claimed that her friend was caught in the traffic jam and was unable to see her mother one last time before she passed away. “When a parent takes their last breath without seeing their child arrive, or when a child misses the chance to see their mother for the last time, do you know what that feeling is like?” she wrote.

The incident has raised questions about the rules of the road and the behavior of cyclists and drivers in Singapore. According to the Land Transport Authority, cyclists are required to stop and look for oncoming traffic before using a zebra or pedestrian crossing, but they are not required to dismount and push their bicycles.
