NETIZEN CAN”T UNDERSTAND WHY SOME STUDENTS CAN AFFORD OVERPRICE SUGAR LOADED COFFEE BUT CAN’T LET GO OF $8 FOR STUDENT LIFE!

With the whole hubbub on that $8 student life fees issue, here’s my $8:

You’re only letting go of that $8 once a year and you’re only gonna pay for it at most 4 times in your entire life – will that really hurt your pocket that much?

I’d understand if you were financially tight (but to be fair you’d have bursaries/subsidies in place to already take care of that so it shouldn’t be a big deal in the first place) but if you’re living a relatively normal life why is that $8 such a big deal?

You wouldn’t mind letting go of $8 if it was a large-sized overpriced sugar-overload coffee but when it comes to stuff like this you start crying “it’s too much man!”

Sure, you might not participate in CCAs and you’re not one of those people who queue up for welfare packs. But other students do. There are people like me who look forward to that free foolscap that comes in every welfare pack every year. There are people who appreciate the free snacks that come inside the packs because free snacks. Maybe you wouldn’t appreciate them. But it’s not only just about you, isn’t it?

And what about those CCAs who do voluntary work? I’m sure part of what that $8 funds are those CCAs as well, who probably have to use of those funds for fundraising and their voluntary efforts. It might not directly benefit you, but isn’t it good to fund something that benefits society?

It’s about time people stop thinking only for themselves and think about others as well, because the world doesn’t revolve around them.
