A tragic incident unfolded in Phuket, Thailand, where a 52-year-old Singaporean man, identified as Lee Mun Tuck, passed away shortly after receiving a 45-minute oil massage at a local massage parlour. The event occurred around 11 PM on December 7, 2024, and has raised concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
According to reports from Thai media, Mr. Lee, a frequent visitor to the Patong Beach establishment, began experiencing severe breathing difficulties shortly after his massage session. Staff members at the parlour attempted to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while emergency responders were called to the scene. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, Mr. Lee was pronounced dead upon arrival at Patong Hospital, with medical professionals suggesting that he may have already passed away at the massage parlour.
Following the incident, local police conducted an investigation at the massage parlour and later at the hospital, where they found Mr. Lee’s body covered by a blanket. Lieutenant Colonel Chanan Mekchai confirmed that there were no visible injuries on Mr. Lee’s body, which has led to further inquiries into the cause of death.
Mr. Lee’s wife, who was present during the incident, stated that she did not suspect any foul play, attributing her husband’s death to his pre-existing health conditions. She noted that he led a sedentary lifestyle and often did not get enough rest. On the day of the incident, Mr. Lee had consumed beer, a common practice for him, before the massage. Witnesses reported that he began snoring during the session before becoming unresponsive.
In light of the circumstances, Mr. Lee’s wife declined an autopsy, expressing her wish to have his body repatriated to Singapore for religious ceremonies. His remains were returned to Singapore on December 8, 2024.
