Came for an interview but it was a trial day… I left
I was supposed to have an interview yesterday at 9:00 and I was told I could stay right after to see the work environment and have a short trial day until 15:00.
As I arrived, the person interviewing me sat me down in her office to tell me that the interview would be from 14:00 to 15:00 because some staff was sick and the two apprentices needed to be supervised by her, the only person with a certification in the building.
I said I couldn’t do a trial day without even knowing what the job is about or discussing anything (for example, salary. I have 10y experience and I’m not cheap) and that I agreed to have the interview first and the trial day later.
The other person said that this change of plans was necessary as she couldn’t interview me and leave the apprentices unsupervised. I said “perhaps it’s better if we reschedule when you’re not understaffed”.
Do I have “STUPID” written on my forehead? You want 5 hour of free labor out of me only for me to find out your pay and benefit suck?
Made me wonder if they use people that are looking for a job as a replacement for sick or absent staff as a routine.

- Trial day, lol
If I’m working, you’re paying me. - Good for you. There probably was a job waiting for someone at the end of all that, but they were making sure they’d only hire the doormat.
- they were hoping that you’re thirsty and desperate… They were wrong….
Like others have said; give the company a negative review online to warn others…. What they pulled with you was unprofessional AF…. - If they require you to work for them they need to at the very least pay you. I had a recruiter call me up about 5 years ago and wanted me to do a try out for a WEEK and be paid nothing.
