I have a friend, let’s call her Jane, who is the kind of person who believes that her actions determine her social status. She will do anything to act as though she’s higher class than everyone else. She’s the type of person who only drinks wine because she believes that it’s the only “classy” drink.
I was recently at a dinner party with Jane and it was pretty obvious that she was trying to show off. She was constantly talking about how she only drinks wine and she was making sure that everyone noticed. I felt a little sorry for her because it was obvious to everyone that she was trying too hard.
I decided to have a little bit of fun with her.
I knew that she wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between wine and vinegar water, so I filled a glass with vinegar water and added a few drops of food colouring to make it look like wine. I then placed the glass in front of her and watched as she eagerly grabbed it and took a sip.
At first, she was taken aback by the sour taste of the vinegar water. But then she immediately tried to play it off and acted as though she was enjoying it. She even went as far as to say that it was “refreshing” and “unique”.
It was obvious to everyone that she didn’t realize that she had been tricked. She just kept drinking the vinegar water and pretending that it was wine. It was pretty funny to watch, but at the same time, it was a little sad.
It was obvious that Jane was so desperate to act like she was high-class that she was willing to drink something that she didn’t even know the taste of. It made me realize how easily people can be fooled and how we can easily be taken advantage of if we aren’t careful.
It also made me realize how important it is to stay true to ourselves and not try to be something we’re not. We can still act classy without having to drink wine or act like someone we’re not. It’s better to be ourselves and be confident in who we are, rather than trying to act like someone else.
I’m glad that I was able to share this experience with Jane and hopefully, it will help her to see that she doesn’t need to put on an act in order to be accepted. She can be herself and still be respected and accepted by everyone
