Punggol Coast Bus Interchange Set to Open on June 29, 2025

In an exciting development for residents of Punggol, Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has announced the opening of the Punggol Coast Bus Interchange on June 29, 2025. This new interchange will enhance connectivity in the area, linking directly to the Punggol Coast MRT station, which commenced operations on December 10, 2024.

The Punggol Coast Bus Interchange will be Singapore’s 15th Integrated Transport Hub and will also connect to the newly established Punggol Coast Mall, all situated within the Punggol Digital District. This strategic location aims to improve accessibility for residents and visitors alike.

Facilities Designed for Accessibility and Comfort

The interchange has been thoughtfully designed to cater to families, seniors, and individuals with mobility challenges. Key features include barrier-free access at all entrances, priority queue zones with seating at all boarding berths, and wheelchair-accessible toilets. Additionally, a baby care room equipped with touchless, automatic sliding doors will be available for parents. A “commuter care room” will also be provided for those seeking a quiet space.

On the operational side, the interchange will include staff facilities such as a canteen, staff toilets, a cleaner’s room, and a staff lounge. To promote sustainability, the interchange will incorporate energy-saving features, including LED lighting, an energy-efficient air conditioning system, water-saving taps, and motion sensor lights.

Bus Services and Route Extensions

Upon its opening, Bus Services 34 and 117/M will operate from the new interchange, having their routes extended from the current Punggol Bus Interchange. Bus Service 34 will now serve Punggol Central, Sumang Walk, Sumang Link, and Punggol Way, while Bus Service 117/M will include Punggol Place, Sentul Crescent, and Sentul Walk.

Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat visited the site on May 20, 2025, and emphasized the importance of the interchange as a key transport node for residents in Punggol North. He also announced that over 3,000 job openings will be created in the public transport sector over the next few years, with approximately 2,000 positions in the rail sector and the remainder focused on supporting the electrification of Singapore’s bus fleets.

As the Punggol Coast Bus Interchange prepares to open, residents can look forward to improved transport options and enhanced accessibility, contributing to the overall development of the Punggol area.
