A 65-year-old bus driver was hospitalized following a serious accident on May 23, 2025, where his vehicle crashed into five parked cars at an industrial building in Kranji. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM on the fourth floor of Carros Centre, located at 60 Jalan Lam Huat.
Authorities, including the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the police, responded promptly to the scene. The driver was reported to be conscious when transported to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for medical attention.
The incident
Eyewitness accounts and dashcam footage shared on social media depict the bus speeding through the car park before colliding with a line of parked vehicles outside a car dealership. The footage shows the bus traveling in the wrong direction, raising concerns about the driver’s control of the vehicle.
A private-hire driver, identified only by his surname Cai, recounted his harrowing experience to Shin Min Daily News. He was in the process of bringing his car in for maintenance when he noticed the bus approaching at high speed. Cai managed to stop his vehicle just in time, narrowly avoiding a collision. “It was a terrifying experience. I was just next to the bus and nearly got hit by it. If I hadn’t stopped, I could have died,” he stated.
Images shared by Cai revealed significant damage to the front of the bus, while other vehicles at the scene also showed visible signs of impact. Reports indicated that the damaged cars were initially believed to belong to the dealership, which had reserved them for buyers. However, a representative from the dealership later clarified that the vehicles were not theirs and that the dealership incurred only minimal losses from the incident.
As investigations continue, police confirmed that the bus driver is cooperating with authorities. Initial reports mistakenly identified the bus as a school bus, but this has since been corrected. Currently, the focus remains on understanding the circumstances that led to this alarming accident, with police inquiries ongoing.
