Opal Suchata Chuangsri: Thailand’s First Miss World Winner Takes The Crown

Opal Suchata Chuangsri has made history by becoming Thailand’s first Miss World, clinching the prestigious title during the 72nd Miss World pageant held in Hyderabad, India, on May 31, 2025. The 21-year-old beauty triumphed over a competitive field of 108 contestants, with Ethiopia’s Hasset Dereje Admassu finishing as the first runner-up.

72nd Miss World Pageant Winner

The crowning moment saw last year’s winner, Krystyna Pyszková, pass the crown to Chuangsri, who is currently pursuing a degree in International Relations at Thammasat University. Fluent in both English and Chinese, Chuangsri comes from a family involved in the hotel industry in Phuket.

Chuangsri is not only celebrated for her beauty but also for her advocacy work in breast cancer awareness. At the age of 16, she underwent surgery to remove a benign tumor, an experience that inspired her to launch the initiative “Opal For Her,” aimed at promoting breast health and raising awareness about breast cancer. With her new title, she plans to leverage her platform to further her advocacy on a global scale.

The Miss World pageant, hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar, saw India hosting the event for the second consecutive year. Notably, India’s Nandini Gupta made it to the top 20 but did not advance further in the competition.

Chuangsri’s journey to the crown follows her participation in the Miss Universe pageant last year, where she finished as the third runner-up. However, her title was revoked by the Miss Universe Organization in April 2025 due to a breach of contract, as she had accepted another title before completing her reign.

As the new Miss World, Opal Suchata Chuangsri is poised to make a significant impact, not only in the realm of beauty but also in the vital area of health advocacy, particularly for breast cancer awareness. Her story serves as an inspiration to many, highlighting the importance of using one’s platform for positive change.
