CCTV Footage Captures Disturbing Incident Outside Udon Thani Dormitory
In a bizarre incident that has left residents of Udon Thani on edge, CCTV footage has emerged showing a man sniffing men’s underwear outside a local dormitory. The footage, shared on social media by a 38-year-old local named Ball, has sparked concern and curiosity within the community.
The incident occurred in the early hours of June 11, around 3:30 AM, while Ball was preparing ingredients for his restaurant located near the dormitory. Initially, he did not pay much attention to the man who arrived on a black Honda Scoopy motorcycle. However, after reviewing the security footage, he was alarmed to discover the man’s unsettling behaviour. The video shows the individual approaching a clothing rack, sniffing various pieces of underwear, and then returning them before leaving the scene.
Ball posted the footage in a Facebook group dedicated to Udon Thani residents, captioning it with a warning: “This happened in Soi Jintakham. If anyone knows who this man is, please let me know. This gives me goosebumps.” His intention was to raise awareness and help identify the suspect, whose identity remains unknown.
Community Reaction and Previous Incidents
The local community has reacted with a mix of shock and disbelief. While the owner of the underwear did not file a police report since nothing was stolen, the incident has raised concerns about safety and privacy in the area. Ball emphasised that his primary goal in sharing the video was to alert others rather than to escalate the situation unnecessarily.
This incident is not isolated, as similar cases have been reported in Thailand. In March, a man in Chon Buri was arrested for stealing women’s underwear, with police discovering a stash of 41 garments along with illegal drugs in his possession. Additionally, in January, a suspect in Nakhon Si Thammarat was caught after attempting to steal women’s underwear and was found peeping on a woman while she showered, leading to his fall through the ceiling.
The Importance of Vigilance
As the community grapples with this unsettling event, it serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and awareness in public spaces. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious behaviour to local authorities to ensure the safety and security of their neighbourhoods. The incident has sparked discussions about personal safety and the need for increased community awareness regarding unusual activities.
As the investigation continues, the identity of the man in the CCTV footage remains a mystery, leaving many in Udon Thani on high alert. The community hopes that by sharing information and staying vigilant, they can prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
