Man Arrested for Drink Driving After Van Crashes into Tree in Taman Jurong

The event, which was captured on video and subsequently shared on the SGRV Facebook page, revealed the van swerving erratically down Yung Ho Road before losing control and colliding with a tree situated outside a Certis Cisco building.

Eyewitness Accounts and Immediate Response

Eyewitnesses to the crash described a chaotic scene as the van veered off course. A driver of a nearby vehicle, who recorded the incident, quickly exited his car to assist the van’s driver. He was soon joined by two other passers-by who rushed to the scene to offer help. As they approached, the van began to emit smoke, raising concerns about the potential for a fire or further danger.

Witnesses noted that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, as he reportedly kept his foot on the accelerator even after the crash, which could have exacerbated the situation. The Singapore Police Force confirmed that the van had self-skidded along Yung Ho Road toward Jalan Tukong at approximately 1:05 AM. The driver was subsequently arrested for drink driving. The Singapore Civil Defence Force assessed one individual at the scene for minor injuries, but he declined to be taken to the hospital.
