Fire Response

Upon receiving the emergency call, firefighters from the Alexandra Fire Station quickly mobilized to the scene. Upon arrival, they were met with a challenging situation: one of the bedrooms in a 23rd-floor unit was engulfed in flames, and thick smoke was billowing from the unit.

The firefighters, equipped with protective gear and firefighting equipment, bravely entered the smoke-filled apartment. Utilizing two water jets, they worked diligently to extinguish the fire, demonstrating their training and commitment to public safety. Despite their efforts, the fire caused significant heat and smoke damage to the rest of the unit, underscoring the rapid spread of flames in confined spaces.

Casualties and Evacuations

Fortunately, two individuals who had evacuated from the affected unit before the SCDF’s arrival were assessed for smoke inhalation. Emergency medical personnel promptly conveyed them to Singapore General Hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Their swift evacuation likely prevented more serious health complications.

In addition to the residents of the affected unit, approximately 100 individuals from the surrounding block were evacuated by the Police and SCDF as a precautionary measure. The quick actions of the emergency services ensured that all residents were accounted for and safe from harm.
