20 Y.O M’SIAN GIRL MURDERED & ROBBED BY 3 SUSPECTS

The victim, Maniishapriet Kaur Akhara, a physiotherapy undergraduate from Kuching, Sarawak, was reportedly discovered in her room at the Mutiara Ville student residence. Her body was found fully unclothed, with signs of blunt force trauma to the head and swelling around one eye. The shocking discovery has since triggered intense discussions across social media.

Initial Reports Suggest Sexual Assault and Murder by Three Suspects

Preliminary claims shared online alleged that three intruders sexually assaulted the student before being murdered. Netizens widely circulated the rumour, expressing outrage and frustration over what they described as weak security measures within the student housing facility.

Further intensifying public concern, a bloodstained towel allegedly containing male DNA was found at the crime scene. It is believed that the suspects not only committed the brutal assault but also fled with the victim’s valuables, including her mobile phone, laptop, cash, and bank cards.

Police: Head Injury Confirmed, Sexual Assault Not Yet Verified

According to Sepang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Hashim, investigations are still ongoing. While a post-mortem confirmed head injuries consistent with assault, there has been no official confirmation of sexual assault at this stage.

Police are currently working to track down the suspects and have urged the public not to speculate or share unverified claims, which could jeopardise the investigation.

The incident occurred during the semester break, when most of the victim’s five roommates had returned home. Maniisha remained behind as she had an exam scheduled.

Campus Security, CCTV Concerns and Safety Failures Raised

One of the major talking points among netizens and parents is the glaring lack of security infrastructure at the hostel. It was revealed that the hallway where the attack happened had no functioning CCTV, and the lift camera system was reportedly down at the time of the incident.

The university community has since been shaken, with calls for improved surveillance systems, 24-hour security patrols, and stronger protocols to protect female students living on campus.
