BLACKPINK Concert Scams Resurface in Singapore: Over $26,000 Lost Since June

Singapore Police are sounding the alarm over a fresh wave of online scams targeting BLACKPINK fans ahead of the group’s Deadline World Tour Concert in November 2025. Since 10 June, at least 18 police reports have been lodged, with total losses exceeding S$26,000.

This follows a similar scam wave in 2023 during BLACKPINK’s “Born Pink” tour, where 128 scam reports were recorded, totalling S$206,000 in losses. Most victims were young Singaporean female students aged 10 to 29, a demographic heavily drawn to K-pop concerts and merchandise.

Scammers have been leveraging messaging apps and popular resale platforms such as Telegram, Carousell, Xiaohongshu, Facebook Messenger, and even Viagogo to advertise fake concert tickets.

Scammers Use Fake Screenshots and Urgency Tactics

To appear legitimate, some fraudsters sent screenshots or video recordings of fake Ticketmaster receipts or tickets, convincing fans the deals were real. Others created urgency, claiming ticket quantities were limited or sales were time-sensitive, pressuring victims to make payment quickly.

In several instances, after initial payments were made, scammers claimed the transactions did not go through and demanded additional funds. Victims would only realise they were scammed when no tickets were delivered, or the so-called seller became uncontactable.

Authorities have clarified that Ticketmaster is the only authorised ticketing platform for BLACKPINK’s Singapore concert. Tickets purchased through other channels — especially resale listings — are invalid. The concert’s strict no-resale policy also means fans holding secondary-market tickets will be denied entry at Singapore Sports Hub with no refund issued.

Public Urged to Avoid Facebook Marketplace, TikTok Listings

To curb resale scams, the Police are working with Carousell, Facebook Marketplace, and TikTok to remove unauthorised ticket listings. Meta’s own Commerce Policies also prohibit ticket sales on its platforms.

Concertgoers should note that tickets will only be issued to Ticketmaster account holders approximately two weeks before the event. The platform does not send tickets via email, and tickets cannot be transferred to another user’s account.

ScamShield, 2FA, and Community Vigilance Key to Prevention

The Police strongly encourage the public to practise the ADD, CHECK, TELL framework:

  • ADD the ScamShield App, enable 2FA (two-factor authentication), and use Money Lock features to protect banking transactions.
  • CHECK all ticket sources and verify suspicious activity through the ScamShield App or the ScamShield Helpline at 1799.
  • TELL friends, family, and authorities about scam encounters. Report fake listings directly to platforms.
