According to reports, more than $25 million gone liao this year just from online investment scams. The new twist? The scammers now pretend to be AI chatbot, got Telegram channel, even got fancy chart show how your “money grow”.
“I Thought Can Retire Early, Now Eat Grass”
The 58-year-old uncle say he was approached through Facebook Messenger — the so-called “friend” intro him to this auto-trading bot that claim can “guarantee high returns using deep machine learning”.
“They even show me got MAS logo leh,” he sigh.
He put in $5K first. Got payout one month. Then he greedy liao, top up to $50K. Eventually, he dump in $250K from insurance payout and some CPF withdrawal.
Then one day, platform suddenly shut down. Telegram channel also gone. Even customer service say “BRB” but never come back.
Scam Too Smart Liao — Got AI Also Cannot Save You
Cybersecurity expert warn, now the scammer very powderful. They use deepfake video, ChatGPT clone, even voice call from fake “investment consultant”.
“Don’t play play — even got Singlish accent, I also believe at first.”
MAS already issue advisory: No such thing as guaranteed profit. If got someone tell you “no risk, high return”, that one already big red flag hor.
