Taxi Driver in Transcab Vehicle Accused of Aggressive Behaviour at Marina Bay Sands

A late-night altercation at Marina Bay Sands took a dramatic turn when a private hire driver accused a Transcab taxi driver of behaving aggressively and threatening violence during a pickup incident at the casino’s driveway.

The incident reportedly occurred around 3:02am on 19 July 2025. The PHV driver, who shared his account online, claimed he was at the MBS Casino driveway waiting to pick up a passenger when the confrontation began.

PHV Versus Taxi

According to the post, the Transcab driver—driving a vehicle with the registration number SHD5184D—was initially stationary on the inner left lane. Without signalling, the taxi driver allegedly accused the PHV driver of obstructing him. What followed was a flurry of aggressive behaviour that left the complainant stunned.

The PHV driver alleged that the taxi driver drove up beside him, pointed a middle finger, and made threatening gestures, including raising a fist as if to challenge him to a fight. Describing the driver as “thuggish” and comparing him to a “mad dog with rabies,” the PHV driver said he decided not to back down, giving chase and flashing his high beams to confront the situation.

“He came out shouting like a lunatic,” the PHV driver wrote, adding that despite the loud threats, the taxi driver eventually “didn’t dare to do anything.”

He also questioned whether the Transcab driver’s attire was appropriate for someone in public service, hinting that the driver appeared unprofessional and unkempt.

The incident has since been reported to the Land Transport Authority (LTA), Transcab, and the Police. It remains to be seen what actions will be taken following the complaints.

This case has sparked online discussion about taxi and PHV driver conduct in Singapore, especially in high-traffic zones like MBS where tensions can easily flare. With both industries already under public scrutiny for service standards and road etiquette, such encounters further underscore the importance of professionalism and restraint on Singapore’s roads.

Authorities are expected to investigate the matter thoroughly to ensure that public transport operators, whether taxi or PHV, uphold proper behaviour and maintain safety for both commuters and fellow road users.
