A well-known Chinese motorcycle rider and internet celebrity, affectionately nicknamed “Harley Auntie,” tragically passed away following a serious highway crash on 11 July. She was 35 years old. Her passing was confirmed on 19 July by her riding group, Harley Changchun Squadron, triggering widespread shock and mourning among fans and fellow riders.
The accident occurred in the evening when she was riding her Harley-Davidson motorcycle on a highway. Reports suggest she lost control of the bike and collided with the central divider in a single-vehicle crash. No other vehicles were involved. Sources indicate that distraction may have played a role in the accident.
Critically, it was reported that she had not fastened her helmet’s chin strap properly. During the collision, her helmet came off, resulting in severe head injuries that led to her death despite emergency medical attention.
Known for her sunny personality and bold riding style, “Harley Auntie” had gained popularity in the motorcycle community. She had completed remarkable journeys, including a 30,000-kilometre solo trip and an off-road adventure in the extreme 50°C heat of Xinjiang, demonstrating great courage and endurance.
Her riding group shared an emotional tribute video, recalling her radiant smile and passion for riding. More than 100 club members attended her farewell, many visibly grieving the loss. The group described her as a bright light within their ranks who had now “turned into a butterfly and flown into the sky.”
This tragic incident has reignited conversations around motorcycle safety, especially the critical importance of properly wearing helmets to protect riders on the road.
