Police Remind Riders to Step Up Motorcycle Security

In light of the case, the Police are reminding all motorcycle owners to take proactive steps to prevent theft. Motorcyclists are advised to:

  • Park only in well-lit areas to deter criminal activity
  • Install and maintain anti-theft alarms
  • Use motorcycle covers secured at both ends to conceal and protect their vehicle
  • Add disc brake locks or suspension guards as added security layers
  • Always remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle when unattended
  • Never store spare keys in the motorcycle’s storage compartment

Motorcycle theft remains a concern in certain areas, and vehicle owners are strongly urged to stay vigilant. By adopting simple yet effective measures, riders can better safeguard their vehicles and avoid becoming victims of opportunistic crime.

Does Motorcycle Insurance in Singapore Cover Theft?

In Singapore, most comprehensive motorcycle insurance policies provide coverage against theft. However, third-party only or third-party fire and theft plans may offer limited protection. It is important for motorcycle owners to verify the scope of their policy and ensure they have adequate coverage for theft-related incidents. Insurers may require evidence of security measures, such as use of locks or alarm systems, before approving theft-related claims. Always review the fine print and consult your insurer to understand what is and isn’t covered.
