Video Sparks Outrage Amid Border Tensions

The controversial clip emerged amid heightened tensions along the Thai-Cambodian border. The women, believed to be construction workers based on their attire and surroundings, were seen provocatively handling the flags at what is thought to be a Chinese-owned manufacturing site within Bor Thong 33 Industrial Estate in Kabin Buri district, Prachin Buri province.

Local netizens condemned the disrespectful act, demanding swift legal action. Thai police have launched investigations and are working to pinpoint the exact location of the incident within the industrial estate.

Legal Consequences for Insulting National Symbols

Prachin Buri Provincial Police Commander Kiattisak Sathongwian confirmed that the women’s actions violate Section 118 of Thailand’s Criminal Law, which prohibits insults against the national flag or other state symbols. Offenders face penalties of up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both.

Deputy Governor Weeraphan Dee-on emphasised the government’s commitment to preventing provocative behaviour during the ongoing border tensions. Officials have also urged employers to maintain communication with Cambodian workers and discourage any form of misconduct.
