A rowdy altercation involving four elderly men broke out at a coffee shop in Bukit Panjang, shocking onlookers as it escalated into a violent brawl with chairs used as weapons. The incident, which unfolded on the evening of 2 August around 8:10pm, took place at Block 257 Bangkit Road.
Footage of the fracas, circulated on the Telegram channel Sgfollowsall, shows two older men standing while beating two others lying defenceless on the ground. The weapon of choice? Plastic chairs.
In the video, the assailants each lifted a chair and struck the downed men, causing the chairs to bounce off them. Chaos continued as bystanders at the scene stepped in to restrain the aggressors, who appeared unsteady and verbally abusive, lashing out in vulgarities.
Despite others shouting in dialect for the violence to stop, one man in a yellow shirt turned his aggression toward a man dressed in orange. He tried to use another chair in the attack but was physically held back. However, he managed to land a kick squarely on the face of the man on the ground, whose head snapped back from the impact.
Victims Struggled to Get Up After Beating

The two victims, who remained on the ground throughout the video, seemed unable to get back on their feet even as the violence ceased. Blood was reportedly seen on their faces, suggesting facial injuries sustained during the assault.
Towards the end of the recording, one voice was heard urging, “Let’s all go back,” signalling the end of the brawl as some individuals began to disperse.
Chinese-language daily Shin Min reported that all parties involved were allegedly intoxicated. Witnesses described the coffee shop as packed during the incident. One of the injured men was said to be a regular patron of the establishment.

Police Investigation Underway, Victims Declined Hospital Visit
According to a food stall staff member, the police arrived at the scene shortly after and remained for about an hour to investigate. Authorities later confirmed that two men, aged 57 and 65, sustained injuries but declined medical treatment and refused to be taken to hospital.
Police investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
Such altercations raise concerns about public safety in neighbourhood spaces and the dangers of alcohol-fuelled conflicts. The viral nature of such incidents on social media platforms also reflects the growing public interest in law and order issues, as well as social responsibility in intervening or recording incidents when they occur.
