Filipino Caught In Taipei Hotel Selling “Services”: Turns Out She Is a Guy

TAIPEI — A Filipino transgender man, who often dresses in feminine clothing, was recently caught by police while selling “services” at a hotel in Taipei’s Da’an district, leaving his client shocked upon discovering his true identity. The 26-year-old man, who has undergone gender-affirming surgery, appeared outwardly as an attractive Southeast Asian woman.

Authorities reported that the man, named Sakay, entered Taiwan on a tourist visa and arranged to meet a client at a hotel on Zhongxiao East Road. During the police inspection, officers found the agreed payment of NT$5,000. The client, believing he was meeting a woman, was surprised when Sakay’s passport revealed he was a male. The client admitted he agreed to the meeting out of curiosity and was visibly shaken when he learned the truth.

Social Media and Online Presence

Sakay’s online presence also attracted attention. The Filipino man maintains a social media account with 17,000 followers, regularly sharing photos that emphasised his female appearance. Many of these photos depicted him in feminine clothing and makeup, which contributed to the client’s confusion. Authorities warn that online images can sometimes be misleading and emphasise the importance of verifying identities before arranging any form of service.

Legal Consequences and Public Warning

After police questioning, both Sakay and the client were fined NT$2,000 each under Taiwan’s Social Order Maintenance Act. Sakay also violated immigration regulations and was referred to the Taipei Immigration Office, pending deportation. Authorities continue to remind the public that selling services without proper legal approval is illegal and can lead to fines or deportation. They also caution people to be careful when engaging in transactions with individuals whose identity may not be fully verified.

This case serves as a reminder that appearances can be deceiving, and even friendly or seemingly normal arrangements can carry legal risks. The authorities stress the importance of following visa rules, respecting the law, and exercising caution when meeting strangers.
