A shocking knife attack incident in Kajang has brought attention to the safety of public spaces. On Wednesday morning, a 24-year-old Chinese female suspect was brought before the Kajang court for allegedly injuring multiple people with a knife following a minor traffic collision. Witnesses described her as expressionless when escorted from the police vehicle, wearing an orange top and blue jeans with her hands handcuffed.
According to her defence lawyer, Sun Dejing, the suspect’s parents had appointed him just two days prior under advice from the Chinese consulate. He added that he had not yet had formal discussions with his client before the court appearance. The woman is expected to face separate hearings in the magistrate and subordinate courts, covering a total of seven charges.

Police reports indicate that the incident occurred around 11:58am on August 13, near a traffic light outside a shopping mall in Kajang. Following a minor car accident, the woman reportedly exited her vehicle and brandished a knife, attacking passersby. Six local residents, aged between 21 and 60, sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, all victims received prompt medical attention.
Mental Health Assessment
Authorities have sent the suspect to a psychiatric facility for evaluation. The prosecution has stated that if the hospital confirms a mental health condition, they will consider whether to continue pursuing the charges. If the suspect is found mentally fit, discussions regarding bail will proceed. Meanwhile, she remains under police custody pending the outcome of the assessment.
